Designer, Technician support

Going into design, a creative soul is tantamount to a required prerequisite. It grows with time and effort, academically and throughout your career. Early on, I found that creating for yourself and creating for others are two entirely different areas of improvement. The former requires a dive into design and creative tools for artists to practice and perfect, while the later requires a greater understanding of customer service, communication and technical skills. Over my years of working in IT, I’ve grown professionally in these areas, with my focus shifting towards work efficiency.

I graduated from the technological and innovative University of Washington Bothell. I’ve since moved to the sunny state of Florida, broadening my horizons. In today’s environment, there’s vast opportunity - more and more each year - for careers and growth in IT and design; there is also a commonality for hardship in achieving success, so much so that it’s become a stigma for competition and aggressive workmanship to predate the achievement of personal goals.

graduate and employee

Back in 2016, I graduated UWB with a Bachelor’s Degree; with an Interactive Media and Design major and Business minor. Academically this prepared me for skills required for a programmer, a project manager, and a team member for design projects. I thought to build on what I've learned with Human-Centered design and User Experience design by going into the IT field. Instead, I’ve gained a much broader knowledge of ITIL including ticketing systems, content management, incident management and continued improvement that is required for remote and on-site work.

In the year of 2016 I joined the IS Service Desk at Providence St. Joseph Health. My team and I took phone calls and addressed technological issues from employees within the PSJH organization including doctors, analysts, administrators, directors, lab technicians, nurses, etc. My responsibilities were many, and that hands-on work taught me more than I learned academically from lectures and presentations.

February of 2021, I started working at Seattle Genetics, also known as Seagen. I adapted my experience to another work environment, assisting clinicians and administrators all working towards cancer research. Trending technical incidents were identified, and if needed processes were created to apply fixes for all users. My responsibilities were similar to before, taking calls, making calls and processing tickets. Reaching out via Zoom, Teams, and email. Installing software and granting access permissions.

Moving forward I will continue to aim higher, both in my career and in my growth as a professional.

My goals in life are to...

I aim to work in a creative environment with others and create unique experiences. My personal definition of success is doing what you love and being the better for it. If you can wake up in the morning and look forward to going into work everyday, then you’ll be successful every day of your life.
